Rodolphe Balz started Sanoflore in 1972 in the Drôme, first as a formulation laboratory and herb farm, with botanical gardens in the Vercors regional natural park. The distillery opened in 1986.
The brand makes organic, plant-based skincare that combines essential oils, floral waters, vegetable oils and plant extracts with scientific testing. L'Oréal bought it in 2006, and the French investment firm Ekkio Capital took it over in 2023. The Rosa Fresca range is part of its collection.
